Halloween

Some people regard Halloween as the start of the holiday season. It's a season of happiness, relaxation, and fun. Some holidays are cultural or traditional holidays, while others may have religious significance. We as Muslims also have our own holidays. A month ago we celebrated Eid ul-Fitr, and you may also count the whole month of Ramadan as a holiday. And Insha'Allah in a bit over a month we'll also celebrate Eid ul-Adha.

Many Muslims live in Western countries, and sometimes we assimilate the Western lifestyle with our own. One aspect of the Western lifestyle (and a pretty signigicant aspect) are the holidays. There seems to be several holidays every month. There's always something going on, and sometimes we want to have a part of it. Of course, as Muslims we don't celebrate the specific holidays of other religions, but we want to get in on the fun of the traditional holidays, like Independance Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

Today is Halloween, and there's many Muslim youth who are going to be Trick-or-Treating with their friends and dressing up in weird costumes. Forget about the origins of Halloween for now....but think, if Halloween didn't exist, and I told you that I'm going to dress up in an absurd costume and go door to door asking for candy, you'd probably think I'm crazy. But when lots of people do it and have been doing it for decades, it somehow becomes acceptable and isn't crazy anymore. People don't even care where Halloween came from, they just want to do it because everybody else is doing it and has been doing it as a tradition for years. Muslim children want to take part also, but apart from it not being a Muslim holiday, or from being some crazy, is it really something that they should do?

Personally, I think that if you want to dress up in a costume, do it in your room so that you don't look like a fool. If you want candy, go to the store and buy some. But some say it's just having fun, there's nothing wrong with it. But where did Halloween come from? I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be such a popular holiday if some recent guy decided to dress up in a costume and go door to door for candy. It definitely has roots somewhere long ago, pagan (Mushrik) roots. I'm not going to copy and paste the entire story, but I would recommend you to read this article: http://islam.about.com/library/weekly/aa103098.htm

The point is, it's not a Muslim holiday, and it's not even a nuetral traditional holiday. It has origins from a Mushrik holiday, and even though that's not the intent with which it's celebrated anymore, Rasulullah (saw) warned us from imitating certain people...

It was narrated from Abu Saeed al-Khudri (ra) that the Prophet (saw) said: "You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you hand span by hand span, cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they entered the hole of a lizard, you will enter it too." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, (do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?" He said: "Who else?" - [Bukhari and Muslim]

“Whoever imitates a people is from them.” - [Abu Dawud]

I'm not labeling anobody as a Kafir (even though this is the apparant meaning of this Hadith in relation to those who imitate the Kuffar), but at the very least this indicates that it is Haram to imitate the Kafir ways.

In the Qur'an, Allah warns us:

"When it is said unto them, 'Come to what Allah has revealed, come to the Messenger,' they say, 'Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following.' What! Even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?" - [Qur'an 5:104]

May Allah protect us from becoming victims of our own desires, from becoming victims of society and peer pressure, from becoming victims of those who we are not to follow, from losing our morals and ethics, from justifying our wrongs with oversimplified reasoning, and may Allah guide us to what pleases Him, and keep us on the path to His Mercy in this Dunya and the Akhirah.

A Cup of Water

A famous Sheikh once visited the Caliph Harun al-Rashid, and when he entered his presence the caliph asked him if he wanted anything. The Sheikh said that he only desired a simple cup of water.

When the cup of water was given to the sheikh he asked the Caliph, "what would you give if no water was available to you and you are forced to trade for this one cup of water?"

Harun al-Rashid replied, "I most certainly would give at the very least half of my kingdom."

The Sheikh then said, "and what would you give if you were not able to release the waste of that water from your body unless you traded something for it?"

The Caliph said, "I would certainly give the other half of my kingdom."

The Sheikh smiled and told the Caliph, "It is God that controls both these things, so what is the worth of all your kingdom if it can be so easily traded for a simple cup of water?"

Pearls of Wisdom - October 29th, 2008

When Umar bin Al-Khattab (radiAllahu anhu) despatched the army of Sa'ad bin Abi Waqqas (radiAllahu anhu) to the Battle of Al-Qadisiyyah, he advised him:

"Fear your sins more than you fear the enemy as your sins are more dangerous to you than your enemy. We Muslims are only victorious over our enemy because their sins outnumber ours, not for any other reason. If our sins were equal to those of our enemy, then they would defeat us due to their superior numbers and resources."

Hadith of the Day - October 29th, 2008

Abu Mas`ud Al-Badri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "When someone spends on his family seeking his reward for it from Allah, it is counted as a charity from him." [Bukhari and Muslim]

"Seeking his reward" means that one is supporting his family as a duty entrusted by Allah. It is also warranted by compassion for the near ones. A person who does it as a duty ordained by Allah and shows mercy to his deserving relatives to attain His Pleasure then what he spends with this intention on his children will be eligible for reward from Allah.

Hadith of the Day - October 28th, 2008

Hasan bin `Ali (May Allah be pleased with them) said: I remember (these words) from Messenger of Allah (PBUH): "Give up what is doubtful to you for that which is not doubtful; for truth is peace of mind and falsehood is doubt." - [Tirmidhi]

This Hadith leads us to the conclusion that one must always avoid doubtful things so that he does not do anything unlawful. This message is repeated in another Hadith which says that he who has saved himself from doubts has in fact saved his Faith and honour.

King Mahmud and the Beans

The mighty King Mahmud of Ghazna, out hunting one day, was separated from his party. He came upon the smoke of a small fire and rode to the spot, where he found an old woman with a pot.

Mahmud said:

'You have as guest today the monarch. What are you cooking on your fire ?'

The crone said:

'This is a bean stew.'

The emperor asked her:

'Old lady, will you not give me some?'

'I will not,' she said, 'for this is only for me. Your kingdom is not worth what these beans are worth. You may want my beans, but I don't want anything you have. My beans are worth a hundred times more than all you have. Look at your enemies, who challenge your possessions in every particular. I am free, and I have my own beans.'

The mighty Mahmud looked at the undisputed owner of the beans, thought of his disputed domains, and wept.

I Feel Clean for the First Time

Once a pious Muslim brother got a job in a restaurant. He took with himself a container for water so that he can use it for toilet purposes. So, everytime he goes to the toilet, he fills the container with water and takes it with him. One day, a Christian man who also works there saw him taking water and asked him about the reason for it. The Muslim brother told him that after releasing the dirty materials, we should clean that place and that cleanliness is a major part of Islam. The man said that why not use the toilet papers? The brother asked him that if such dirty thing touched his hands, would he use a toilet paper to wipe it off or use water? The man understood and said that he would use water. The next day, the Christian man brought a container for himself and used it during relieving himself. When he came out of the toilet, he was crying and tears were rolling down his cheeks. The Muslim brother asked him about why he is crying. The Christian man said that "For the first time in my life, I feel completely clean." Thereafter, he accepted Islam and became a devout Muslim.

Subhanallah! =)

- - -

Muslims can do Dawah in many ways, and as we can see from this story, even by using the toilet! Our way of life is so beautiful that many aspects of it fascinate even non-Muslims. Unfortunately, the media and unfortunate events of the past and present stain Islam with a bad name. A religion that has such great and simple teachings and methods cannot be a religion of terrorism and violence. It's sad how our Islam is covered in misconceptions as it is...but that shouldn't deter us from continuing our efforts of Dawah. Dawah is not just passing out books and pamphlets, it could be just a simple smile and little gifts here and there. It could be wearing Hijab and modest Islamic clothing. It could be praying in front of people. Dawah doesn't even require us to initiate conversation. We could just continue doing what we would do normally as Muslims, and the questions will come when people notice and take interest. Let's try to display the beauty of Islam with our actions, and that will be powerful enough of a Dawah to make an impact, Insha'Allah! =)

Two Weeks Update

Assalamu 'Alaykum,

It's been 2 weeks now since I've started this blog, and Alhamdulillah there have been over 1,000 page loads, and 600 unique visitors (each time a person visits for the first time on a day), and about a quarter of those visitors came back to visit again. I hope that at least some people have benefited from at least something that was posted, Insha'Allah.

Please leave comments! For the past few days there hasn't been a single comment for any of the posts...please mention anything that you'd like to add about any of the posts, or just give some feedback. And please continue to visit and give me any suggestions for anything that you'd like me to put up or change.

There's quite a few of you who visit everyday or visit frequently, but on average only 30-50 people visit throughout the whole day. Please help me increase this number if you can, and please continue to visit...it takes just a minute or two and Insha'Allah you might read something that will greatly benefit you...

If anybody would like links to Qur'an downloads, or if you want me to put up some Qaris, please leave a comment with the name of the Qari and Surahs that you'd like. If there's anything else that you need, please mention it in a comment.

Jazak'Allah for visiting...here's a nice Hadith to start of your day =)

Nu`man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The likeness of the man who observes the limits prescribed by Allah and that of the man who transgresses them is like the people who get on board a ship after casting lots. Some of them are in its lower deck and some of them in its upper (deck). Those who are in its lower (deck), when they require water, go to the occupants of the upper deck, and say to them : `If we make a hole in the bottom of the ship, we shall not harm you.' If they (the occupants of the upper deck) leave them to carry out their design they all will be drowned. But if they do not let them go ahead (with their plan), all of them will remain safe." [Bukhari]

We learn from this Hadith that the consequences of committing acts which are forbidden in Islam are not confined only to those persons who commit them, but the whole society has to suffer for them. It is, therefore, essential that the people who are in the habit of committing sinful acts and violate Divine injunctions, should be checked to save the whole society from destruction. If this is not done, the entire society will have to face the Divine punishment.

Hadith of the Day - October 24th, 2008

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "The riding person should greet the walking one, and the walking one should greet the sitting one, and the small number of persons should greet the large number of persons." [Bukhari]

Another narration also adds, "The younger person should greet the older one."

This is just one small reason of many reasons why we call Islam the religion of peace. Rasulullah (saw) even taught us simple etiquette such as who should greet whom first.

Hadith of the Day - October 23rd, 2008

Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The similitude of one who remembers his Rubb and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead.'' - [Bukhari and Muslim]

Lack of remembrance of Allah is akin to death. When a person dies, he is unable to do anything. Similarly, a person who does not remember Allah goes so far from Him that he cannot do anything which can benefit him.

The Sack

Mula came upon a frowning man walking along the road to town. "What's wrong?" he asked.
The man held up a tattered bag and moaned, "All that I own in this wide world barely fills this miserable, wretched sack."

"Too bad," said Mula, and with that, he snatched the bag from the man's hands and ran down the road with it.

Having lost everything, the man burst into tears and, more miserable than before, continued walking. Meanwhile, Mula quickly ran around the bend and placed the man's sack in the middle of the road where he would have to come upon it.

When the man saw his bag sitting in the road before him, he laughed with joy, and shouted, "My sack! I thought I'd lost you!"

Watching through the bushes, Mula chuckled. "Well, that's one way to make someone happy!"

Hadith of the Day - October 22nd, 2008

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger." - [Bukhari]

“Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian” - Dennis Wholey

True, isn't it? Life's tough and unfair, but we just have to keep doing what we have to do, regardless of whether things are fair or not.....and we need to be patient in difficult times...

Ayah of the Day - October 21st, 2008

Recite [O Muhamad (saw)] what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Qur'ân), and establish Salah. Verily, Salah (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahshâ' (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed), and the remembrance of Allâh is the greatest (action). And Allâh knows what you do. [Surah 'Ankabut - 29:45]

A Brief but Comprehensive Formula for the Reform of People

This is just one of several Ayahs in the Qur'an that command us to establish Salah. In addition, this Ayah states that the establishment of Salah is a means of restraint from shamelessness and evil actions. The Ayah concludes by reminding us that the remembrance of Allah is the greatest action that one can perform. The remembrance of Allah can be done by reciting Qur'an, doing Dhikr, contemplating over the awesomeness of Allah's creation, making Dua (supplication) to Allah, and of course, the greatest form of remembering Allah is by establishing Salah. If societies would just start doing this one thing, establishing Salah regularly, then the shameless and evil of society would be much less than what we see today...

The Boy who Loved Eating Sweets

There once was a boy who loved eating sweets. He always asked for sweets from his father. His father was a poor man. He could not always afford sweets for his son. But the little boy did not understand this, and demanded sweets all the time.

The boy's father thought hard about how to stop the child asking for so many sweets. There was a very holy man living nearby at that time. The boy's father had an idea. He decided to take the boy to the great man who might be able to persuade the child to stop asking for sweets all the time.

The boy and his father went along to the great man. The father said to him, "O great saint, could you ask my son to stop asking for sweets which I cannot afford?" The great man was in difficulty, because he liked sweets himself. How could he ask the boy to give up asking for sweets? The holy man told the father to bring his son back after one month.

During that month, the holy man gave up eating sweets, and when the boy and his father returned after a month, the holy man said to the boy "My dear child, will you stop asking for sweets which your father cannot afford to give you?"

From then on, the boy stopped asking for sweets.

The boy's father asked the saint, "Why did you not ask my son to give up asking for sweets when we came to you a month ago?" The saint replied, "How could I ask a boy to give up sweets when I loved sweets myself. In the last month I gave up eating sweets."

A person's example is much more powerful than just his words. When we ask someone to do something, we must do it ourselves also. We should not ask others to do what we do not do ourselves.

ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT YOUR ACTIONS AND YOUR WORDS ARE THE SAME!

Hadith of the Day - October 20th, 2008

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: There were two brothers in the days of the Prophet (PBUH). One of them used to attend the Prophet's circle (to acquire knowledge) and the other used to earn their living). Once the latter complained to the Prophet (PBUH) against the former (for not earning his living). He (PBUH) replied, "Perhaps you are being provided because of him". [Tirmidhi]

Commentary: This Hadith evidently shows that it is permissible and desirable to devote oneself or make someone else to devote himself for religious knowledge. Such students of religious knowledge should not be considered a burden. Similarly, one should also not ignore those students and scholars who are devoted to such knowledge because Allah makes their help a means of increasing the donor's sources of subsistence.

Hadith of the Day - October 19th, 2008

Narrated Abu Bakr bin Abi Musa:

My father said, "Allah's Apostle (saw) said, 'Whoever prays the two cool prayers ('Asr and Fajr) will go to Paradise.' " [Bukhari]

The Fajr and Asr prayers are mentioned specifically in this Hadith. These 2 prayers are hard to pray, and even if we do pray them, we often fail to pray them on time. Not only that, but most of us give the least amount of concentration on these 2 Salah. We don't get up right away to pray Fajr, wanting to sleep every minute that we can. Then when we stand for prayer, it's as if we're still sleeping while we're praying. Then, Asr time in the evening is when business may become busy for some of us, or it's when we're playing or when we have our own free time, so we put keep putting off Asr. When we do pray Asr, we want to pray it fast to get it over with. This may not be the case for all of us, but for many, Fajr and Asr are the two most difficult Salah to keep up with on time. In this Hadith, glad tidings of Paradise are given for those who observe these 2 Salah consistantly and with devotion, Insha'Allah. May Allah make it easy for us to observe all of our Salah on time.

A Fly Makes Its Point

A tyrannical ruler was addressing the people, when a fly settled on his face. He chased the fly away. Back it came and again he chased it. The fly was stubborn. It settled on his face once more. He tried to kill it, failed, got angry. He then asked Dahhak, a scholar who was present: "Why has Allah created this annoying insect? Doesn't it seem useless?" Dahhak replied: "It was created to show tyrants like you how impotent they really are; that they don't even have the power to dispose a fly. You may hold sway over human beings, yet a feeble little insect refuses to obey you. It settles on dirt, then comes and alights on the faces of those who imagine they are God. If it could express itself in words, it would say: "You are a nonentity. Do not forget that you are nothing. You may conquer the world, but you cannot conquer me. If Allah wills, He can kill you, as He killed Namrud, with a miserable little fly."

Hadith of the Day - October 18th, 2008

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A space in Jannah equal to the distance between the middle and the end of a bow will be better than all that upon which the sun rises and sets.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Commentary: Just a very small -- a wee bit of a place in the Jannah is better than the whole world, as this world would soon come to an end while Jannah will be eternal.

Pearls of Wisdom - October 17th, 2008

Put aside your pride, Set down your arrogance, And remember your grave. - Ali (ra)

Pride and arrogance are evil qualities that we might possibly be able to get away with in this life. But, once we die, there's nothing left that we can do. Once death overtakes us, then it's too late to set aside our pride and to put down our arrogance. So, let's set aside our pride and put down our arrogance now, today, while we are still breathing, and let's remember our grave often, because that's where we're going to go soon, and only Allah knows how long we'll stay there.

Hadith of the Day - October 17th, 2008

Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (ra) said that he heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: "Whoever performs Ghusl on Friday and applies perfume, if he has any, wears his best clothes, then goes to the Masjid and performs voluntary prayer, if he wishes, does not bother anyone, listens when the Imam appears until he starts the prayer. Then all of this will be an expiation for whatever occurs between that Friday and the next Friday." [Ahmad]

This is another example of the cleanliness encouraged by Islam. According to one narration, the performing of Ghusl on Friday is Wajib. It is recommended to wear our best clothes and apply perfume before we go to the Masjid. The earlier we go to the Masjid, the better. We shouldn't talk to anyone or disturb anyone during the Khutbah. When the Imam begins his Khutbah, we should listen attentively. If we do these things, then Insha'Allah it will serve as expiation for all of our minor sins between this Friday and the next. May Allah accept our Jumu'ah Salah and our duas.

Pearls of Wisdom - October 16th, 2008

"If you are aware of your humility, then you are arrogant." - Ibn Ata'Allah

I think this is a great quote. To feel that you even possess such a noble quality is a feeling of arrogance. We should let humility be a natural part of our demeanor, without even thinking about it. I'm sure many of us are humble, but whenever we do something humble, we get this good feeling we just did something that was humble. We shouldn't even have this feeling if we truly possess humility. May Allah make us amongst those who are truly humble.

Rasulullah (saw) said:
Allah has revealed to me that you must be humble, so that no one oppresses another and boasts over another. [Abu Dawud]

Hadith of the Day - October 16th, 2008

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Allah does not look at your figures, nor at your attire, but He looks at your hearts and accomplishments". [Muslim]

This Hadith highlights the importance of sincerity and good intention. It is, therefore, essential that every noble action should be based on these two virtues; and heart should be free from all such things that destroy noble deeds. Hypocrisy, ostentation, greed for wealth, riches and other wordly things fall in the category of such evils. Since the true condition of heart is known to Allah alone, the true position of one's actions will be known on the Day of Resurrection when one will be requited for them by Alah. In this world, one will be treated according to his apparent condition while his insight will be left to Allah.

True Friends

"A friend cannot be considered a friend until he is tested in three occasions: in a time of need, behind your back, and after your death." - Ali (ra)

Judging by this quote, how many true friends do we really have? How many friends would really help us in a time of genuine need? When we aren't present, do our friends speak good of us, or do they say things about us that they wouldn't want us to hear? And of course, would our friends remember us and make Dua for us after we die? Nowadays, true friends are hard to find.

But, even if we don't have many true friends, nothing should stop us from being true friends for others.

Please leave a comment, Jazak'Allah!

Hadith of the Day - October 15th, 2008

Ibn 'Abbas and Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "If a son of Adam were to own a valley full of gold, he would desire to have two. Nothing can fill his mouth except the earth (of the grave). Allah turns with mercy to him who turns to Him in repentance".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Commentary: This Hadith deals with man's greed and his lust for material wealth. Only the person who has a perfect Faith can save himself from it.

Life is Like Baking a Cake

A little boy is telling his Grandma how “everything” is going wrong. School, family problems, health problems, problems with friends, etc.

Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which, of course, he does.

“Here, have some cooking oil.” “Yuck” says the boy.

“How about a couple raw eggs? ” “Gross, Grandma!”

“Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?”

“Grandma, those are all yucky!”

To which Grandma replies: “Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

Allah works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times.

But Allah knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!”

Allah hears all our Du’as. Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen and hear. He is Al-Baseer, As-Sameer - The Seerer, The Hearer.

“And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near; I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he calls on Me, so they should answer My call and believe in Me that they may be on the right path” [Surah al-Baqarah; 2:186]

Transient

A famous spiritual teacher came to the front door of the King's palace. None of the guards tried to stop him as he entered and made his way to where the King himself was sitting on his throne.

"What do you want?" asked the King, immediately recognizing the visitor.

"I would like a place to sleep in this inn," replied the teacher.

"But this is not an inn," said the King, "It is my palace."

"May I ask who owned this palace before you?"

"My father. He is dead."

"And who owned it before him?"

"My grandfather. He too is dead."

"And this place where people live for a short time and then move on - did I
hear you say that it is NOT an inn?"

Hadith of the Day - Monday, October 13th, 2008

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "Every good deed is charity". [Bukhari]

We come to know from this Hadith that whatever good action and deed is done by a Muslim, he gets a reward of Sadaqah on it. The word Ma`ruf stands here for every virtue and noble deed. Renunciation of evils is also a virtue (Mar`uf).

Good Manners

One day, when Sayyidina Hassan (ra) and Sayyidina Hussain (ra), were still small boys, an old Bedouin from the desert visited their home in Madinah. The old man was new to Islam and still ignorant. When it was time to do the prayer and the old man began to do Wudu (ablution), it soon became apparent that he did not know how to do Wudu properly.

Sayyidina Hassan (ra) and Sayyidina Hussain (ra) both knew that it is necessary to do Wudu correctly and wanted to show the old Bedouin how to do it, but first they were not sure how to tell him. If he were to be told plainly by two small boys that he did not even know how to do Wudu, he might feel awkward or embarrassed.

Fortunately they thought of a good way to teach him without having to openly point out his mistakes. After putting some water in a jug, they too prepared to do Wudu, but before starting they asked the old Bedouin to watch them:

“Excuse us, old man,” they said respectfully, “we want to make sure that we are doing Wudu properly; please would you watch us and tell us if we make any mistakes.”

Having said this, they both did Wudu exactly as it should be done, with the old Bedouin intently watching them.

By the time they had both finished, he had learned how to do Wudu correctly without having been made to feel at all embarrassed.

“Yes.” He said with a smile, “you both know how to do Wudu perfectly!”

Hadith of the Day - Friday, October 10th, 2008

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) of its sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any respect. [Sahih Muslim, Book 34, No. 6470]

Islamic blog to benefit people, Insha'Allah...

Assalamu Alaikum to all of you brothers and sisters and Jazak'Allah for visiting this blog...I created this blog with the intent of posting beneficial material, things that won't take much of your time to read but can have a very big impact....Insha'Allah I'll be posting short stories, Hadith, quotes, reminders, and anything else that I can share for our benefit...

Here's a little short story to start with:

Once there was a king who told some of his workers to dig a pond. Once the pond was dug, the king made an announcement to his people saying that one person from each household has to bring a glass of milk during the night and pour it into the pond. So, the pond should be full of milk by the morning. After receiving the order, everyone went home. One man prepared to take the milk during the night. He thought that since everyone will bring milk, he could just hide a glass of water and pour inside the pond. Because it will be dark at night, no one will notice. So he quickly went and poured the water in the pond and came back. In the morning, the king came to visit the pond and to his surprise the pond was only filled with water! What has happened is that everyone was thinking like the other man that "I don't have to put the milk, someone else will do it."

Dear friends, when it comes to help the Religion of Allah, do not think that others will take care of it. Rather, it starts from you, if you don't do it, no one else will do it. So, change yourself to the way of Allah to serve Him and that will make the difference.

Since I just started, I don't have many ideas, so please help me out, and leave a comment with any suggestions and feedback. Jazak'Allah.
