Ayah of the Day - October 21st, 2008

Recite [O Muhamad (saw)] what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Qur'ân), and establish Salah. Verily, Salah (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahshâ' (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed), and the remembrance of Allâh is the greatest (action). And Allâh knows what you do. [Surah 'Ankabut - 29:45]

A Brief but Comprehensive Formula for the Reform of People

This is just one of several Ayahs in the Qur'an that command us to establish Salah. In addition, this Ayah states that the establishment of Salah is a means of restraint from shamelessness and evil actions. The Ayah concludes by reminding us that the remembrance of Allah is the greatest action that one can perform. The remembrance of Allah can be done by reciting Qur'an, doing Dhikr, contemplating over the awesomeness of Allah's creation, making Dua (supplication) to Allah, and of course, the greatest form of remembering Allah is by establishing Salah. If societies would just start doing this one thing, establishing Salah regularly, then the shameless and evil of society would be much less than what we see today...

Salat is very important, no wonder it is one of the five pillars of Islam.
People who do not perform salat should fear Allah (SWT), he has told us to pray!
Somehow we find time for everything else but prayer.
